Taste, season, cold, and how to plant this one.
- Taste
- Large, colorful fruit with good sweet flavor and modest fiber. A show mango as much as an eating mango.
- Ripens
- Mid to late summer. Fruit is big — don't let a heavy set snap a young limb.
- Zones
- Zones 10 to 11.
- Hardiness
- Same frost rule as other mangoes. The tree itself is vigorous and forgiving once established.
- Size
- One of the larger growers on this list. Leave room or prune hard after harvest.
- Tips
- Stake it. Valencia Pride wants to run. A calm, sunny exposure beats a cramped side yard.
- Pollination
- Self-fruitful.
