- Taste
- A Hass-type avocado: smaller than a Florida pear, with richer, nuttier flesh and that pebbly dark skin when ripe.
- Ripens
- Hass-types in Florida crop more lightly than on the California coast, often from winter into spring. Pick mature fruit and ripen it on the counter.
- Zones
- Zones 9 to 11.
- Hardiness
- More cold-tolerant than a West Indian Florida avocado, and less happy in a soggy summer root zone.
- Size
- Prune it to about 15 to 20 feet. Unguarded it wants to be a real tree.
- Tips
- Plant on a mound if the yard holds water after rain. Keep the graft above the mulch. A type-B tree nearby improves the set.
- Pollination
- Flower type A, same pattern as Hass. Bacon or Brogdon (type B) are useful partners.
