Taste, season, cold, and how to plant this one.
- Taste
- One of the best Florida mangoes to eat out of hand: fiberless, coconut-sweet, and aromatic.
- Ripens
- Early to mid summer, often June in Naples. Color is a blush over yellow, and the fruit softens at the nose.
- Zones
- Zones 10 to 11.
- Hardiness
- A mature mango rides a light frost. A young Glenn in a 7- or 15-gallon pot needs a cover or a garage if we hit freezing.
- Size
- More compact than a Haden or Valencia Pride. Many yards keep it around 12 to 18 feet with pruning.
- Tips
- Full sun, no soggy hole, and do not sprinkle the flowers. Anthracnose loves wet bloom. Glenn is more tolerant than many, which is why we grow so many.
- Pollination
- Self-fruitful. A second mango nearby can still thicken the set.
