- Taste
- Chunky, blunt fruit. Ripe it is tangy, somewhere between lemon and apple. Underripe it is starchy, more like a plantain.
- Ripens
- Wait until the squat fingers are full and the skin shows a little black speckle. Southwest Florida clumps often fruit in the warm half of the year.
- Zones
- Zones 8 to 11.
- Hardiness
- One of the more cold-tolerant bananas we grow. It still wants mulch over the corm in a real freeze.
- Size
- A sturdy clump around 8 to 12 feet. Good for a smaller yard than a giant Nam Wah.
- Tips
- Eat it ripe if you want the lemon-apple side. Cook it if you cut it green. Remove extra pups so three or four stems share the mat, not twenty.
- Pollination
- No partner needed.
